About Me
I am a Colorado native and am a graduate of Fort Collins High School. I attended Colorado State University (go Rams!) where I earned my undergraduate degree in Spanish. I then went on to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching and Bilingual/Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education at the University of Northern Colorado. I am starting my 14th year in teaching and am starting my sixth year as a Tavelli Tiger. I am excited to be starting my second year as a kindergarten teacher! There is nothing more inspiring than the pure enthusiasm of new learners.
When I am not teaching, I am usually enjoying time with my husband (who is also a teacher at Tavelli) and two children. As a family we love to take road trips, spend time in the mountains and cheer for the Broncos. My husband and I both love music (Adam teaches Little Kids Rock here at Tavelli) and we can often be found at concerts. A few of my favorite bands are Needtobreathe, the Avett Brothers and Jimmy Eat World. I also love reading! Some of my favorite books include Pete the Cat, the Elephant and Piggie series, anything by Eric Carle, the Harry Potter series, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Holes, Winnie the Pooh...I could go on and on!
I believe that each child brings unique gifts to our classroom and that every child can learn. I also believe in the power of yet: I can't do this...yet. I don't know this...yet. It doesn't make sense...yet. I'm not good at this...yet. Together we will work really hard, learn new skills, understand new concepts and become great students and community members!
